Ripon

ripon
Ripon is a small town consisting of about 14,297 people (2010 Census) that lies in the San Joaquin County amongst the Stanislaus River. Ripon is an appealing town that has many sorts of entertainment for all walks of life. The Almond capital of the world’s most recognized event is the Almond Blossom Festival that is set the last weekend in February. Almonds and grapes are the second most prevalent crop in California, second to milk. So it is no wonder that Ripon cherishes their almond growing capacity since almonds also place second in San Joaquin County as the county’s most valuable cash-crop valued at $468 million in 2013, behind grapes. City of Ripon and Ripon Chamber of Commerce sponsor many events throughout the year, such as Almond Blossom Festival, community-wide yard sales and clean up days, Farmer’s Markets, Main Street Days, where they have sidewalk sales and its newest attraction; Color the Skies, customary to be Labor Day weekend, where they launch hot air balloons into the sky. Ripon also boasts a low crime rate, making it one of the safest towns in its area. Ripon also has a V.IP.S. (Volunteers In Police Services) program that allows volunteers over the age of 18 to donate their time in helping Ripon Police Department maintain Ripon a tranquil community. For those that keep a fit lifestyle, Ripon has invested a lot into keeping Ripon moving. Ripon has what some would call the finest skate park in California, Mavis Stouffer Park just shy of 28 acres, offers river rafting and fishing, Ripon River Crossing provides hiking and biking with a length of 9.3 miles leading to Modesto. Ripon Aquatic Center is a 25 x 25 swimming pool with concessions, office, restrooms, and pool equipment; even though it is located within the boundaries of Ripon High School, it is open to the public. Mistlin Sports Complex is hard to miss with its 80 acres of fields for soccer, baseball, softball, picnics, and a fun water pad; all together Ripon has so far set about 300 acres into parks. Just outside the city limits is Caswell State Park that offers camping, picnic with river access. So as Ripon’s motto states: “Come spend a day, and you may decide to stay for a lifetime.”
